Merry Chirstmas!!

Okay so its been a really really long time since we have posted any pictures on the blog so I thought I would jump at the chance to put some pics on while Emma is taking her nap. So I am sorry there are so many pictures but that is why I did a slide show, but I forgot to make it so the pictures rotate through quickly so its kinda slow, so if you don't have the paitence so wait you can just click on "view all images"
So life has been great for our little family. Preston will be done with school next december YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is such a good feeling. He is still working for Costco and loving it ( okay so that's an exageration) not loving it, but making the best out of it. He does a really good job there and everyone loves having him there.
I am still teaching piano and just got a new job as a medical assistant at Grow up Great Pediatrics. I love it. Its really nice to have an in at Emma's doctors office. I have learned a lot of new things, including: stay as far back as possible when doing a strep test so you don't get barfed on, when giving flu shots make sure the five year olds hands are being tightly held so you don't get hit and last and most importantly when a kid says he is going to throw up it really means he is going to throw up so grab the closest bucket or you will have a royale mess to clean up.
Well, I am excited for christmas, we will miss you Ang and Jed. But can't wait to see you next year.

Book Club

I am excited about the book club ladies. I have read the book and will be on the next plane home to participate in the lively discussion! Actually I cannot come home for it. Alan asked if I was reading it because we were having a massive phone conference call. I thought the purpose of book club was to have an excuse to get together and eat though. Therefore, why did I read the book?
Just kidding. I read it and will gladly discuss it when the time comes. I hope you are all enjoying reading it now.
I am on call tonight in the PICU with all the sick children and I cannot wait to be off on Thanksgiving day. What a blessing to get a day off! We love you.

Hi Family,
So I thought I would post a few Halloween Pictures too. Lily dressed up 3 nights in a row for different events and we were glad to finally retire the tights and silky lady-bug number. Halloween was fun for our family. Lillian went to a few houses with some of her Welsh cousins but any candy she was given was eaten by Steve while walking door to door (it really was only a few pieces). She mostly liked playing with her cousins, Opa, and Grandma. This last picture is of the kids at the Thanksgiving party. Which turned out pretty fun. P.S. No group musical chairs next year....I promise.

Halloween

Halloween proved to be once again a festive night for all. As you can see in the photos, I am the only one who didn't dress up this year. Matt begrudgingly dressed up because his office did. This tattoo shirt was actually his boss's, but it didn't fit him. I didn't know what he was dressing up as, so when he got home and was outside drinking a can of soda, I seriously thought it was some gang banger drinking a brew. He scared me for a second. Anyway, the kids had a great time trick-or-treating. They got way too much candy. I hope that you all had a Happy Halloween!

Soon after we arrived in Utah, Angela and her kids and our family followed mom and dad up to the ranch to clean out the ditch, etc. We made sure that we had some fun too. Matt, Sydney, and Nathan slept outside with grandma and grandpa. It was fun for the kids to see the stars so bright. The next day, the kids were able to take a ride in the combine with the man who farms grandma's land for her. They thought that was pretty great.

Moving Day

I am sooo sorry that I have been such a slacker on this blog for the past couple of months. The main reason is that we never set up our computer here, and downloading pictures proved to be difficult for me. So I bit the bullet and went to Walgreens today to have a CD made. So I will post like crazy today!!!

Moving day for us was bittersweet. We left behind wonderful neighbors and a great house. When we finally made it to Park City in our moving caravan, I realized how great it was to be back in Utah near family. We sure have taken advantage too!

Costumes

Help!!! Does anybody have any ideas for great Halloween Costumes that can be thrown together? It seems like my creative juices used to flow much better...I cannot think of anything creative-that can be gathered together relatively easy. I am responsible for one of the booths at our ward Halloween party and I desperately need a costume. Steve and I are also going to a Costume Party at a friends house this weekend and my mind is seriously not functioning. Has anybody ever seen a creative costume that can be whipped up somewhere? Ideas.....please!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Hi Everybody. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Lillian is going to be a lady bug this year. Since posting has in that last 2 months come to near non existent...I though I would coral everybody back into it. I am afraid that Lisa and Matt may have been the fuel when the lived back in Tennessee. But...alas I will not let it be so. We must continue on...because I love to hear and read about everybody. Steve is studying this week for another big one.... 6 tests on Monday. This testing on Monday bit is no fun...he has to spend the entire weekend studying, take the tests Monday, and sometimes go to classes the very same day. I think testing on Friday would be better because then we would have the entire weekend with NO HOMEWORK! Too good to be true. Lillian has started to be extra amazing. She copies a lot of what we do now. She can blow a kiss, kiss, patty cake, sometimes she'll moo, she roars like a lion, waves hello and goodbye and is just the cutest little thing. She turns one in just a few weeks. Yikes! Time goes by to quickly. We love ya'll and can't wait to hear what's new with you!

Wednesday, WEDNESDAY!!

SOoOoOoOoOoOoOo, MY CALL COMES ON WEDNESDAY!!! And I am so excited to see where I will be spending the next two years away from home, on my own, teaching the gospel. Everyone who wants to be can be present at the house at I think 7, but that is not for sure, we will call and tell everyone when it gets closer. And what a great time to do it, everyone is in Utah, except for lindz and Alan, so you guys just be sitting by your phone and we will call you. Thanks you guys for all you do and I am so excited to finally be the caboose on the Hill's mission train.

Living with MRSA

Hello Family,
I was recently talking to Steve and found out that Grandpa has been diagnosed with Methicillin Resistant Staph Aureus (MRSA). I also understand how this can make us, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nervous because it is a contagious infection. I would hate to see us avoid Grandpa and home though on these grounds. Many people, including children, are colonized with MRSA and do not show signs of infection, but can spread the disease. In our hospital we routinely test all people coming into the ICU for MRSA by doing a nasal swab and a number of people are colonized with the infection. If a patient is colonized with the infection we take special precautions like wearing a gown and gloves to prevent spread of the infection to other patients who are already sick and whose immune systems are not working properly. Once a person is colonized they usually are carriers of the infection long-term unless they undergo IV antibiotic therapy. MRSA is usually not a problem to healthy adults, but it can be dangerous for elderly, those who are immunosupressed and children. The spread of MRSA can be prevented though by good hygeine: washing hands, alcohol hand-sanitizers, and avoidance of open wounds.
I know I am not there as often as the rest of you, but I think that we can probably step our hand-washing up to a point where we can still enjoy Grandpa's company and prevent ourselves and kids from getting sick. Flaming Gorge

Hey I am SO glad no one cares!

Ok, not!!! In fact it kind of blows. I was really excited about this whole blog thing, (I even post in fun colors to keep your attention) and as much as I had nothing really happening in my life, I was excited to hear about the east of the Mississippi Hills and everything going on on the party half of the United States; but alas, it seems not only have any of you posted in over...a long time, but neither have we. So here it is! The start of the new post revo. I mean we really haven't posted in so long its retro, and retro is in. So nothing is really happening on this side of the Hill. (HAHA, get it?? the Hill??) Anyway, I am almost ready to go on a mission, all my interviews are under way, and let me check just how many guesses I have... oh yeah NONE!! What is this??? I thought this was a fun little games that all the nephews and nieces and brothers and sisters could get in on, but OBVIOUSLY not. I mean come on, its less than three months until I leave. So I have decided to give you all another go round at it, you each get one out of country and one state guess. I think it should be exciting, and if you have any friends who want a guess, they are more than welcome, I want a HUGE list so the more the welcome. Umm, Thomas has left, and everyone else is down to college, so that leaves me and Chuck Reed to hold down the town. :) I am working like a horse painting houses and at Dick's, and really am not to into the whole work for a living kind of thing, being graduated doesn't seem to have as many perks as all the motivational speakers said it would have, if so I am not seeing any of them. Oh, I am currently "seeing" a girl, her name is Alicia Bills, she has red hair and is very cute, :} but we are not dating, we are just enjoying eachothers company...weekly. And so that is it, I hope to hear from many of you in the coming week, or weeks I guess.

Mission Map Mania

HELLO!!! Sorry as much as I know that all of you want pictures of Alaska I don't have the time or any of the good pictures, you will have to beg Lindsey. Here is how it goes, my mission papers are going in this week hopefully, if all goes as planned, and so I am starting the guessing. Anyone can post on where they think I am going and you can have your friends guess as well, please name countries, not continents, and you DO NOT need to be as specific as cities. Please only one guess per person, oh and I was going to have everyone pitch in a dollar per guess, then the winner would recieve the monetary prize, and if no one guessed right then I would keep it to support my mission, but since everyone is spread out and there is no way to regulate the money that comes in that was nixed. So you guys will just have to live with the old fashioned guess it for the bragging rights. Have fun, and I love you all. Oh, and I guess I have a little time for pictures.

This is just a picture to show you that everything in Alaska isn't a barren wasteland like I thought. It is actually really lush and foresty and there is always a layer of fog everywhere so it seems like such a magical place really.
This was on one of our hikes by the glacier, a seemingly random shot that turned out great. Lindsey was playing a little hide and seek in this dense forest which we thought we were hiking through on some kind of "trail" and I use that word very litely.
This just shows that some of Alaska is a barren wasteland. Just kidding, but this is a picture of the glacier we hiked to and walked on, it was really cool.
This is another picture of the glacier and me, but this time I am REALLY close. Oh, and the day we hiked this it was POURING so I was soaked, but it was still well worth it.
This is one of my favorite pictures of the photogenic couple, this is them right after our cruise to see a glacier and sight see a little bit around the Alaska coast.

July

There is no pretty way to show all these pictures without a slide show. I need to figure that one out and I'm not going to take the time now. Just wanted to show some of our July moments. There are a few pictures of the 4th of July. We missed family, but it looks like you had fun together. There are a few of Sarah and Ellie after we had some pictures taken by a friend. Some of Sarah's blessing day. We loved having Matt and Lisa here and we are so excited for them but will totally miss them in the mid-west. There are also a few of Jed in London, who knew screevers really did this in public (I've only seen this in emails)? He had some great shots, but it doesn't look like much unless you're at the right angle.

Summertime

Hey Everybody...
i go through these posting spurts. i have just made comments on tons of past posts. here are a few pictures that include some of our summer fun. we went to the ranch for memorial day. it was fun to see grandma and she was happy to see her grandkids too. the ranch is so fun and i think we are going to try and do an overnighter sometime this summer. we went shooting up at the ranch and i have to admit...i have my strong moments. steve got a fishing pole for fathers day and has been trying to go fishing a lot since then. we went up to silver lake up cottonwood canyon. we went at 8 in the morning and didn't get home until 5 or 6. it was a long day (and much harder than expected with a little baby) steve caught 2 fish. one of them he baited onto his hook. (it was swimming right off the shore and he gently dropped his line right in front of it) the other one was a real catch -and we kept it. there was a family that set up fishing right next to us ...they showed up at 2 with about a million little kids. by the time we left the lake at 4 every child they brought had caught at least one fish. we couldn't figure out what we were doing wrong. we need a good coach to show us the ropes. any volunteers? this next picture is of us water skiing for a ward young womans activity. Lily was pooped by the end of the day and fell asleep on the boat as we were loading it back up. we went to the bountiful car show last month and had a fun time, this car was one of my favorite. this last picture is our first camping trip with Lillian. It is much more work to go camping with babies than without them. On this particular excursion we went up Farmington canyon and we stopped at the Bountiful Peak camp site. We forgot our money and got ticketed. The wood was wet and we couldn't keep a very strong fire. It was a long night crammed in our small 2 man tent. We did somehow squeeze a blow up mattress in there. Everytime we moved we woke Lillian. But hey...we haven't given up. We just upgraded for our anniversary to a bigger tent. Bring on the camping trips...!!!! Steve only has 1 month left before school starts. We are trying to make every moment count. By the way is it true...are Matt and Lisa really coming home for good?
