Unlucky Day for the Hills

On St. Patrick's Day, that mean leprechaun visited our house and wreaked havoc. Not only did he leave a big mess, turn our milk green, and leave mean notes telling us we had bad breath, were stinky, that our dog was hairy and needed a haircut, but the kids were very surprised to find that he wrote all over their faces with black marker. Even mom forgot that she had been written on when she went to Lifetime fitness to go swimming. After an hour, she looked down at her swollen feet and saw that it said "Gross, Stinky" and was hoping no one else saw it (although how could you miss it?).

Spaghetti O's

Now, I have never seen the draw of Spaghetti O's. That is probably because we did not eat Spaghetti O's growing up and so I do not find them to be particularly palette pleasing. I know some of us do (Jed). However, when we were in Texas, I did feed Amelia Spaghetti O's with meatballs on the night we arrived before I made my Walmart baby food run. Amelia loved them. So last night when we were planning to leave her for a date, one of the rare times since she was born, I decided to treat her to Spaghetti O's.
   She ate Spaghetti O's and I tried her Spaghetti O's but ate something else for dinner and then Alan and I dropped Amelia off at her daycare. The daycare does a "Date Night" once a month where the teachers stay until 10:30 so that the parents can have an evening out if they like. So we dropped her off and then continued on our way for the date.
  Well about 15 minutes after dropping her off I started feeling a little queasy. That lasted the rest of the night. It began to get super intense on our car ride back to the daycare. I asked Alan to check his phone to make sure the daycare had not called to tell us Amelia was sick, but they had not. However, when we arrived at daycare we found that Amelia had been sick and had thrown up all over herself, the teacher and the bed! Poor Amelia (and poor teacher).
Was it the Spaghetti O's? We cannot say for sure, but it certainly did little to redeem them in my eyes. So, Amelia and I enjoyed a night of food poisoning together. We are both doing much better today.
I do not wish any bouts of food poisoning on any of you any time soon!

St. Patrick's Day Parade & Ice Skating

We had a fun day today going to the St. Patrick's Day parade and to a free ice skating clinic at the local ice skating rink. The kids love getting beads, candy, and other junk they throw out from the floats. The ice skating rink has held two free ice skating clinics the past two months and my kids now are completely hooked.

Next week is spring break for the kids. Nathan has a baseball clinic planned, and we are probably going swimming a lot as well as getting together with friends. Also, David Coreless is going to stay with us part of the week next week while he interviews at some local dental offices in hopes to relocate here when he is finished with dental school. I talked to his wife and was excited to hear that their kids are about the same age as our kids.

February for the Texas Hills

We haven't posted in a long time, so I thought I would just put a few random snapshots of what we have been doing this month. I don't know what is going on with the formatting, but I couldn't seem to get the pictures lined up with the descriptions.


This was our traditional "RED Dinner" for Valentines Day. The kids begged for crab, so I found some on sale. I keep looking for the $5.99/lb king crab deal that Ang found at Meier in Louisville. It just doesn't exist here! I loved that dinner actually took an hour to eat. Next year we are having fondue.






Nathan got his bobcat award in scouts this month. Part of the ceremony is that I paint his face and he paints our faces. He went a little hysterical laughing while painting our noses.



Matt, Sydney, and Nathan ran in a 5K run for school this morning. They did great! Nate pretty much sprinted.









This bottom right picture is of Matt's office. This is the front lobby. All you can really see is the barrel roof frame. It is looking nice.

The bottom left picture is of a box that I decorated for the school recycle drive. Those cotton candy cones sure came in handy for the shark's teeth.
